Contract Experienced Local Government Accountant ** Local Authority experience required **Day Rate**Remote and Hybrid**
Are you based in the UK and an experienced Local Government accountant seeking your next contract? Are you a qualified Accountant with depth of finance knowledge specifically within Local Authorities? Would you like a new challenge as a Interim Consultant where you can support our local authority clients?
We are a specialist Management Consultancy based in Sheffield focusing on ERP digital transformation and technology enabled change within Finance / HR / Payroll / Procurement systems. In addition, we provide accounting support services to Local Authorities covering business partnering and financial accounting. We are working very closely with a number of Local Authorities supporting them as a trusted advisor to successfully deliver the required outcomes in optimising finance systems, in even the most complex of organisational structures. Moore Insight has a deep understanding of the regulatory and statutory reporting landscape for Local Authorities.
Reporting to a Moore Insight Principal Consultant or Project Manager, the work may be a combination of on-site and remote working - depending on the requirements of the Local Authority.
Excellent knowledge of Local Government accounting.
Strong capability around reconciliations
Knowledge around financial control frameworks
Report writing
Financial analysis
Qualified Accountant - CIPFA or other recognised professional accounting qualification
Ideally, experience as a contractor within a Local Authority producing statutory accounts
Previous business experience working with limited support or unsupervised on client projects.
Experience as an interim contractor switching between different Local Authorities
Practical knowledge of accounting best practice.
Proven experience across a range of finance systems within Local Authorities or other public sector bodies / authorities
Knowledge of one or more commercial ERP finance systems.
Creative and effective problem-solver - able to suggest new ideas and innovative solutions
· This role a combination of on-site and remote contracting role with some travel to client sites. This role is on a day rate basis via your own Ltd Co or umbrella Co.
