Senior Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure
Location: Bedfordshire
Purpose of the Role
A leading UK civil engineering contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Infrastructure team, supporting the delivery of a range of local authority projects across the Bedfordshire region.
In this role, you will take responsibility for commercial performance across multiple civil engineering schemes, ensuring effective cost control, contract management, and strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Your contribution will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
What You Will Be Doing
Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
Prepare and negotiate subcontract documentation, including terms, pricing, and programme requirements.
Manage subcontract works packages, including interim assessments and change management.
Issue all required commercial notices to clients and subcontractors in line with contractual requirements.
Administer and manage contract changes, including Compensation Event Quotations.
Prepare, submit, and agree monthly applications in accordance with contract terms.
Work closely with operational and engineering staff to maintain accurate records.
Produce detailed monthly reports, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), and maintain a cost plan including expenditure forecasting and subcontractor liabilities.
About You
Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
Proficient IT skills, including Excel, Word, and commercial/contract management systems (e.g., CEMAR, Oracle).
Relevant degree or equivalent experience in a commercial construction environment.
Experience working on large standalone projects or multiple smaller schemes.
Appropriate CSCS card.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS (or working towards full membership) - desirable.
