As an apprentice CNC Machinist/Toolmaker, you will attend College part time 2 to 3 days per week in year 1 and 2 days a week in year 2. The days when not at college will be spent in the workplace. After completion of year 2 you will be expected to continue studying for an HNC.
Your apprentice programme will focus on the following:
* Year 1 - Completing Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) SVQ Level 2
* Year 2 - National Certificate at Edinburgh College
* Years 3 and 4 - HNC
* Year 2, 3 & 4 - Training in the workplace, working towards an SVQ level 3
As an Apprentice CNC Machinist/Toolmaker, your duties include:
While at College
* Attend college 2 days per week in semester 1 and 3 days a week in semester 2, at the times associated with the qualification and agreed by tutors and managers
* Work closely with EDETA as the nominated service provider for the Company throughout the apprentice programme
* Complete the required work associated with module assessments in a timely manner, raising issues early when not meeting required deadlines
While at Work
* Work with time served colleagues on how to safely set and operate shop floor machinery
* Accurately measuring and working to the product specification tolerances
* Develop Machining and programming skills
* Ensure work areas kept tidy
* Any other tasks required by Production Team
* From year 2, start working towards an SVQ Level 3 and Modern apprenticeship in conjunction with the training provider Edeta
The ideal Company CNC Apprentice will have the following
* Hold a minimum of 3 National 5’s (or equivalent) or above such as Maths, English, plus one other and/or a relevant NC qualification
* Strong IT skills when using a variety of Microsoft Packages
* A desire to want a long-term career as a CNC Machinist/Toolmaker
* Good communication skills to ultimately liaise with colleagues and tutors
* An interest/understanding of technologies and mechanical engineering

In return, you will receive a starting rate dependent on age & qualifications, which is paid fortnightly with any overtime paid at enhanced rates.
Your working week will be Monday to Friday 08:00am till 16:30pm.
