SEMH Support Assistant Location: Preston Contract: Full-time | Term-time only Salary: £90 - £105 (dependent on experience) Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We're seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Support Assistant to join our inclusive, student-centred team. You'll play a vital role in supporting children who face barriers to learning due to emotional or behavioural challenges. What You'll Be Doing: Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs Supporting students to regulate emotions, engage in learning, and access the curriculum Using positive behaviour strategies and restorative practices to promote resilience and independence Assisting with planning and delivering tailored learning activities, in and out of class Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals Supporting with personal care, transitions, or community learning (as required) What We're Looking For: Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASD, or challenging behaviour (school or youth work background welcomed) Calm, empathetic, and proactive approach Team Teach, MAPA or similar behaviour training (or willingness to undertake training) Excellent communication and de-escalation skills Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well being Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or Youth Work) are desirable Why Join Us?
