An education recruitment agency is seeking Learning Support Assistants to work in a specialist primary education setting supporting children aged 5–11 with complex learning needs.
This is a highly rewarding role for individuals who are compassionate, patient, and motivated to help children develop communication, confidence, and independence in a structured and nurturing environment.
The Role
1. Supporting pupils in small class groups (8–13 learners)
2. Assisting with early literacy, numeracy, PSHE, and life skills
3. Helping children communicate using signs, symbols, Makaton, or communication aids
4. Providing emotional reassurance and behaviour support during periods of anxiety or dysregulation
5. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Some pupils may require personal care — full training is provided.
Training & Development
6. Fully funded Teaching Assistant apprenticeship qualification
7. Twice-weekly training sessions combining theory and hands-on practice
8. Positive Behaviour Support / Team Teach training included
9. Ongoing mentoring and professional development
What We’re Looking For
10. No prior experience required
11. Empathy, resilience, and a calm approach
12. Basic literacy and numeracy skills
13. Strong communication and teamwork skills
14. Willingness to support personal care needs
Hours & Pay
15. 36 hours per week, term-time only (39 weeks + CPD days)
16. Salary: £20,224 – £21,032 (pro rata)
17. Paid evenly across 12 months
