To be responsible for the daily delivery of practice nursing services at a dedicated site and work as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled practice population.
The role of the Practice Nurse needs to be flexible in line with the present atmosphere for change within health service delivery. It is essential that the nurse works within their own level of competency and expands their role in accordance with practice requirements and their own scope of practice.
The successful applicant will be an integral member of our fantastic Adam Practice Nursing team, undertaking a wide range of General Practice Nursing care, including adult and childhood immunisations, wound care, lower limb care, and women's health. We will offer full training and mentorship to the right candidate if required.
The Best Foot Forward Leg Club was the first in Dorset and, along with a great team of local volunteers, has won several national awards due to its excellent patient outcomes and providing evidence-based effective clinical care. The successful candidate will be required to work with colleagues as part of the clinical team at the Leg Club and engage with its members in this unique community environment.
This vacancy is offered as a part-time, permanent role working up to 30 hours per week. Working a Thursday and Friday will be required.

Main duties of the job
To work as a General Practice Nurse to provide holistic, patient-centred nursing care to the local practice population in accordance with clinical evidence, NICE guidelines, and in agreement with the nurse management team.
To expertly provide holistic assessment of wounds and implement wound care in line with current evidence-based guidelines, including treatment of minor traumatic, post-operative wounds, and lower limb care, following dedicated training and working within own level of competency.
To undertake a wide variety of clinical skills including removal of sutures and clips, investigatory procedures such as cervical cytology, ECG, and Dopplers, following required training and local guidelines.
Delivery of national childhood and adult immunisation programmes, ensuring patients are fully informed and vaccines administered safely under patient group directives or individual prescriptions.
To have a proactive approach to healthcare of individuals and their families by delivering opportunistic health promotion, providing education, advice on screening programmes, and guiding or referring patients to appropriate services or professionals.

Job responsibilities
To provide routine nursing care according to clinical evidence, NICE guidelines, and in consultation with the nurse management team.
To assess and manage wounds, including post-op care, and provide health advice to support optimal healing.
To collect specimens such as venepuncture, swabs, and urine cultures following local guidelines.
To perform clinical procedures including cervical cytology, ECG, and Dopplers after appropriate training.
To deliver immunisation programmes, ensuring safe administration of vaccines and injections.
To promote health opportunistically, providing education, screening advice, and referrals as appropriate.
To identify and support patients at risk of long-term conditions, and provide self-care advice for minor illnesses within own competency.
To offer travel health advice, including vaccinations, and contraception and sexual health guidance, including annual reviews and injections.
To chaperone and assist patients during examinations, delegate responsibilities appropriately, and support clinical supervision.
To maintain infection control standards, recognize and manage anaphylaxis, perform CPR, and use AED as trained.
To ensure safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and medications, support stock management, and assist with restocking clinical areas.
