About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial execution of one or multiple projects, from feasibility through to final account. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of all commercial aspects in accordance with company policies, procedures, and a valid executed contract—while always aiming to protect and enhance the company's commercial performance and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
As Commercial Manager, your main duties will include (but are not limited to):
Leading the estimating and planning processes for allocated projects.
Managing client relationships and negotiating contracts and schedules.
Calculating and managing labour and material costs.
Advising project teams on contractual and legal matters, particularly NEC contracts.
Monitoring subcontractor performance and managing associated costs and risks.
Supporting project teams to ensure programmes are maintained and delivered on time.
Preparing and managing monthly cost/value reconciliations and contract review meetings.
Identifying and realising project risks and opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
Driving continuous improvement in commercial delivery and value for money.
Promoting a culture of integrity, collaboration, and performance.
Detailed Commercial Duties
Review and advise on NEC-based contractual documentation.
Management and administration of PMIs, EWNs, CEs, and KPIs.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of client applications for payment.
Present monthly contract review data, including cost reconciliation statements, to the Directors and/or Senior Management.
Work alongside the Finance Manager for quarterly forecasts.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
6–10 years' experience in a similar role (other relevant experience will be considered).
BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
High level of commercial awareness and judgement.
Excellent communication, leadership, and IT skills.
Proficiency in the NEC contract suite.
Proficient in cost monitoring and cost reporting.
Desirable:
Professional membership with RICS, ICES, CIOB or equivalent.
