Outdoor Education Teacher | Alternative Provision | Leicester We are seeking a passionate and resilient Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team at a nurturing alternative provision in Leicestershire. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for either a qualified teacher or an experienced instructor who is committed to using the power of the outdoors to inspire and support young people. The Role: Outdoor Education Teacher, Leicester As our Outdoor Education Teacher, you will design and deliver engaging, practical, and hands-on sessions in an outdoor environment. You will be responsible for providing a curriculum that not only teaches practical skills but also builds confidence, teamwork, and resilience in students who have struggled in a traditional classroom setting.. Key responsibilities include: Lesson Delivery: Planning and leading a variety of outdoor education activities (e.g., bushcraft, navigation, team-building exercises). Skills Development: Teaching practical skills while fostering students' social, emotional, and personal growth. Well-being: Using the therapeutic benefits of nature to improve students' mental health and self-esteem. Risk Management: Ensuring all activities are conducted safely and in line with risk assessments. About Our School Located in Leicester, our alternative provision specialises in providing a holistic and supportive education for young people who have faced challenges in mainstream settings. We believe in the power of experiential learning and a trauma-informed approach to help students re-engage with education. Your role will be instrumental in providing a positive and trans-formative learning experience. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not essential. We will consider candidates with a relevant background. Essential: Proven experience working with young people in an outdoor or youth-focused setting. A genuine passion for outdoor education and its benefits. Excellent communication and rapport-building skills. A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach. Highly Desirable: Relevant qualifications in outdoor pursuits (e.g., Mountain Training, Bushcraft, First Aid). Experience working with students with diverse learning needs (e.g., SEN/SEMH).
