Company Description
Bystanders No More supports compassionate but hesitant individuals in becoming active advocates for Palestinian rights—without requiring political alignment, while encouraging honest engagement with the actions of Israeli leaders, allied governments, and the huge humanitarian crisis they are contributing to.
Role Description
This is a volunteer role (we are an intentionally unfunded group) and we are a virtual organisation. We are looking for an experienced Animateur / Virtual Community Organiser. You will lead a new project focused on helping activists engage more effectively with the bystanders in their lives — friends, family, colleagues — using emotionally intelligent communication (eg non-shaming, story-based etc). Your job is to animate this work: guide activists to become more effective in how they speak up. This role involves engaging and managing an online community, facilitating discussions, providing support to activists, and encouraging active participation. Specific responsibilities include organising virtual training/learning events, promoting community guidelines, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Qualifications
Essential
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed communication and emotional dynamics in activist-bystander relationships.
* Deep emotional intelligence: you know when to hold space, when to step up, and when to listen with experience of guiding people through difficult moral conversations without resorting to blame or guilt.
* Comfort designing and leading on-line trainings on persuasive communication, narrative change & de-escalation techniques.
* Ability to translate complex geopolitical and historical issues into accessible, motivating messaging.
* Passion for human rights and social justice with evidenceable solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
* Comfort working with people from diverse cultural and political backgrounds.
* Ability to work independently and remotely.
* Previous experience in a similar role (eg community engagement) is a definite plus.
* Familiarity with online organising tools (Slack, Zoom, Teams.)
Desirable
* Experience working in international or diasporic contexts.
* Multilingual.
* Background in education, arts-based activism, or trauma-informed practice.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
What we offer
* A flexible, non-hierarchical working environment where you define your own boundaries including deciding how many hours you want to commit.
* Opportunities for learning, leadership, and international collaboration.
* The chance to work with people who also believe “never again” means for everyone and thus, a meaningful way to turn outrage and grief into concrete, impactful action.

* How your experience relates to "essential qualifications" (above).
* Your experience of activism/community organising and your Palestinian solidarity experience.
* Why this (volunteer) role matters to you.
