Job Description Project Controller – Defence Early Lifecycle Programmes Full time (37hours) Bristol with possibility to be Hybrid (minimum of 3 days in the office- however exact requirement is team dependent) An exciting opportunity for a Project Controller has arisen within our teams to support our Programme Managers in the co-ordination of consolidating the information required to drive delivery for engineering and technology work packages. In all areas these roles involve working with a range of key business stakeholders to support the delivery of key programme milestones thus enabling the delivery of our Defence Combat strategy for the next 50 years. What you will be doing: We’re looking for Project Controllers to be responsible for co-ordinating, managing data and implementing key project controls to enable the delivery of fast-paced team projects or workstreams within the wider GCAP programme. Working closely with the accountable Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing the information flow, setting up governance and ensuring adherence to project controls in support of teams enabling delivery to cost, specification and time for a defined project of work. These projects will require you to co-ordinate and motivate cross-functional teams to deliver a defined activity or outcome such as design & manufacture of novel development hardware, completion of technology development work or verification testing. You will also be responsible for: The effective delivery of smaller, lower complexity programmes or aspects of project portfolios Reporting the status of programmes / project portfolios in accordance with the requirements of the project. Managing and reporting variances to project baseline and report programme Key Performance Indicators. Supporting the monitoring of benefits realisation through the project deliverables / associated tranches Reviewing programme data, identify and report trends, highlight anomalies and propose corrective action if performance is outside specification Ensuring effective controls are implemented in accordance with the company management procedures to achieve the programme success criteria Accurate reporting to relevant stakeholders in accordance with the defined timescales Facilitating and managing risk and opportunity activities Why Rolls-Royce? For this role, we’re also looking for people with the following skills and experiences: Degree level qualification preferable or equivalent industry experience Member of a professional body and holding / working towards an APM PMQ qualification or equivalent Experience in project management and/or delivery in a fast-paced product development or research & technology setting Experience of different project management approaches is desirable e.g. waterfall, agile Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to easily build rapport and motivate others Ability to network across stakeholders and develop key relationships Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation Good level of knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office tools.
