As an EHS Advisor at our Newcastle facility, you will play a key role in ensuring that all activities are conducted safely and in alignment with Siemens Energy’s Zero Harm culture. Imagine supporting the implementation of EHS management systems while driving compliance with legal and company standards. You will promote continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance, ensuring that our workplace remains safe and sustainable. Your expertise will be vital in risk assessment, training, performance monitoring, and incident investigation, making a meaningful impact on our EHS culture.
How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Implement and maintain EHS management systems across the Newcastle facility, ensuring compliance with UK EHS legislation, Siemens Energy standards, and ISO certifications (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001).
2. Conduct risk assessments (including PUWER, COSHH, DSE, manual handling) and implement effective mitigation measures.
3. Deliver EHS training and awareness programs to employees and contractors, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
4. Monitor EHS performance through audits, inspections, and reporting, providing regular updates to management.
5. Lead investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
6. Promote sustainability initiatives and integrate environmental considerations into daily operations.
7. Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and sharing best practices across the organization.
8. Manage occupational health risks and controls, including ergonomics and workplace exposure monitoring.
9. Conduct internal audits in line with the Internal Audit Programme to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.
What You Bring
10. You hold a NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent), with a preference for those working towards a NEBOSH Diploma.
11. A Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 45001/ISO 14001) and practical auditing experience are essential.
12. You possess a strong working knowledge of EHS legislation, CDM 2015, and environmental management requirements relevant to heavy industrial environments.
13. Your ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels is crucial for success in this role.
14. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required to support your daily tasks.
