Do you have the capability to lead and control a complex construction programme spanning multiple civil engineering workstreams?
Are you experienced in shaping construction strategy, sequencing, and delivery readiness on major projects?
Can you drive programme certainty in a highly regulated, fast‑moving environment with multiple stakeholders?
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Construction Programme Manager to take ownership of the construction programme across a major multi‑billion pound civil infrastructure framework in West Cumbria.
This role is central to ensuring the integrated construction schedule is robust, deliverable, and aligned across design, commercial, engineering, and site delivery teams. You will set the strategic direction of the construction programme, drive confidence in delivery, and ensure that construction milestones, sequence logic, and interfaces are effectively controlled.
It is an opportunity to shape how one of the UK's most high‑profile nuclear infrastructure programmes is delivered on the ground.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
Leading the development, integration, and maintenance of the end‑to‑end construction programme, ensuring alignment with project strategy and delivery targets.
Establishing the construction sequence, logic, constraints, and work‑faces to enable safe, efficient delivery.
Working with construction delivery, planning, engineering, commercial, and supply chain partners to validate programme assumptions and ensure readiness.
Identifying programme risks, clashes, and dependencies within construction workstreams and ensuring proactive mitigation.
Providing clear, strategic programme intelligence to senior leadership, enabling informed decision‑making on schedule, resourcing, phasing, and delivery optimisation.
Driving programme assurance activities, ensuring that construction programme outputs comply with governance, regulatory, and client requirements.
Leading scenario planning and forecasting to demonstrate schedule confidence and assess alternative construction strategies.
Facilitating effective interface management between multiple construction packages and civil engineering disciplines.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Proven experience managing or leading construction programmes on major civil engineering, infrastructure, or complex build projects.
Demonstrable experience working within NEC contract environments (NEC3/NEC4), including change management, early warnings, and programme requirements.
Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, scheduling logic, and delivery constraints.
Experience working within highly governed or regulated sectors (major projects, infrastructure, nuclear, defence, etc.).
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams.
It's great if you also have the following:
Background in nuclear or highly regulated construction environments.
Experience working within an Integrated Project Team or Alliance delivery model.
Knowledge of constructability review processes and readiness strategies.
Professional accreditation (APM, MSP, ICE, or similar).
The setting for the role
You will work within a highly secure and regulated environment, collaborating with project leadership and delivery teams to ensure programme certainty for one of the UK's most significant nuclear infrastructure projects.
