Department Overview Definition, management and verification of mass and sustainability attributes. Whole vehicle mass target (centre of gravity and inertial properties), Sustainability attribute strategy definition and delivery for all Aston Martin vehicle derivatives. Job Purpose To manage the team and lead the definition, management and verification of the of the Aston Martin Mass and Sustainability Attributes. Create, shape and define the sustainability attribute within Aston Martin Key duties and responsibilities Manage through the team the development and strategy for the Sustainability Attribute within Aston Martin (Life cycle assessment, Recycling Desirability Index (RDI) rates, Material Circularity Indicators (MCI), Circular Design Guidelines (CDG) Green NCAP) Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders and department leaders across Aston Martin to define and support the mass and sustainability attribute within Aston Martin Lead the attribute definition and roadmap strategy for the short and long term within Aston Martin Define mass attribute benchmarking activities to support definition and delivery of vehicle, system and component targets. Work with functional and vehicle line Chiefs do shape the platform and vehicle messaging for the Mass and Sustainability attribute. Collaborate with Advance Product Creation (APC) team to scope and define appropriate research initiatives to future the sustainability (Eco-Innovation Credits for fleet average emission targets and mass attribute projects. Be recognised as the authority for all aspects of the Mass and Sustainability attribute Collaborate with the Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) team to scope initiatives that support WLTP and Eco-Innovation Credits) Review commodity team foundation DFMEA’s and DVP’s to ensure sustainability and mass attribute requirements are tracked, measured and reported Establish a stakeholder network to develop, document and report attribute status against targets and programme gateways, highlighting consequences of package options across vehicle attributes group. Identify, evaluate, and drive solutions through mass PAT. Manage the toolset development and continuous improvement to track and publish vehicle derivative mass loading charts, parametric model for all vehicle and market derivatives Lead the team to develop potential mass saving opportunities for current and future programmes recommending approach to system and component owners. Ensure sustainability and mass attribute issues are tracked robustly contained and issues resolved between the function and vehicle teams. Establish a cascade of sustainability metrics through stakeholder metrics that align to regulatory and business targets for the respective vehicle programmes Gain support and sponsorship from the wider business in scoping Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies that align to ISO 14040 within the commodity teams and respective supply base to demonstrate and communicate the component definition, design and delivery projects that demonstrate the ISO framework Drive KPI’s that support a sustainable Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) within commodity teams that form part form part of the design and verification process Drive recyclable material deployment opportunities with stakeholder and commodity teams to facilitate the Recycling Desirability Index (RDI) Work with the L&C leadership team throughout the vehicle weight certification process. Sign off Engineering Reports to support the above. Publish standards, test procedures and processes to future the mass attribute Support relevant PMT/PAT meetings as required. Experience and Qualifications Essential Experience Proven experience working in Mass management within an Automotive OEM or Automotive components supplier. Proven experience of the Sustainability Attribute inputs and management. Attribute target definition and execution. Proven leadership experience. Proven ability in attribute delivery through product delivery framework process Experience of high volume / niche vehicle (low volume) programmes Experience with noise factor management and problem-solving methodologies Must be proficient with the use of all common Microsoft Office applications Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Capable of working across multiple levels within the business to define the role. Preferred Experience A working knowledge of Teamcenter and NX would be desirable. Working in cross functional teams, preferably in a Vehicle Integration role. Experience of vehicle package / concept would be desirable, as would be working in a Vehicle Attribute department. Experience in materials development / materials selection would be an advantage. An ability to communicate complex ideas quickly and include system / component expertise in decision making Demonstrated ability to make decisions against conflicting requirements to deliver a balanced recommendation for the vehicle programme Essential Education/ Qualifications Engineering degree or equivalent with a materials or vehicle attribute bias desirable.
