Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Modern Matron to join our Inpatient Services at Airedale Centre for Mental Health.

Key Responsibilities:

The matrons’ fundamental role is to improve the patient experience. As well as providing better care faster, that also means making hospitals cleaner, more comfortable and friendlier places, and providing patients with better information and more choice.
The main objectives of the role are:
• Providing leadership and supervision to clinical and direct care staff within their unit, to ensure high standards of care
• Ensuring that administrative and support services for their unit support the delivery of high standards of care, i.e. cleaning
• Providing a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in wards for
patients and their families.
• To provide focus on key performance indicators (KPI’s), finances and
safety of the unit

The underpinning principle is to have a professional leader who is accountable for co-coordinating safe, high-quality care to improve patients’ experience.

In addition to the above, the holder of this post will act as deputy to the Service Manager. This will be giving support and covering the responsibilities of the Service Manager as required.

10. Resolving problems for patients and their relatives by building closer
relationships

Qualifications

Essential criteria

11. Mental Health Nurse Qualification
12. Current NMC Registration
13. Evidence of continuing professional development
14. Post Graduate level education in specialist area or equivalent experience.

Desirable criteria

15. Educated to Masters Level or working towards
16. Leadership qualification/training
17. Clinical supervision qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

18. Mental health care/treatment relevant to service (Significant experience)
19. Clinical leadership.
20. Operational management of a clinical team
