About Us
The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute (HCI) is part of the UCL’s Institute of Cardiovascular Science (ICS). The HCI is internationally renowned for its pioneering research investigating ways to protect the ischaemic heart from injury and continues to lead research in the areas of cardioprotection. Its particular areas of interest include the pathophysiology of acute myocardial infarction in the normal & diabetic heart; ischaemia/reperfusion injury; cellular and molecular aspects of adaptation to ischaemic injury and myocardial conditioning in both the basic and clinical arena.
About The Role
Applications are invited for a 1.0 FTE Research Fellow post funded for up to 5 years by the British Heart Foundation investigating PI3 kinase isoforms in acute cardioprotection. The overarching goal of the research is to translate basic science findings to be able to design appropriate therapy for the limitation of myocardial infarction in patients. The Research Fellow will be trained as necessary under the guidance of the team.
About You
* Manage research programmes in line with BHF grant objectives.
* Carry out research projects independently. This includes carrying out in vivo and ex vivo experiments under a Home Office licence, and contributing to experimental design including transgenic breeding programmes. The post holder will also train others in these techniques.
* Record, analyse and provide written and/or oral reports of the results of the experiments.
* Keep the Principal Investigators (PI’s) up-to-date with the progress and timing of agreed experiments.
