About this opportunity
We are looking for a leader with a passion for driving continuous improvement and delivering high-quality services. You will be a dynamic and experienced individual as the Senior Manager for Technical Accounting and Financial Services. This role manages and coordinates the resources and work of the Technical Accounting Team responsible for the Council's accounting policies and practices, and for producing the Statement of Accounts, plus the Financial Services covering procure to pay, income collection to debt recovery, and ensuring that financial controls are robust and effective. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Manager for Business Partnering and Financial Planning.
You will also be an active member of the Finance Management Team with collective responsibility for the managerial leadership of the Finance Division of the Resources Directorate, encouraging a culture that promotes the values and behaviours of the Council. The Finance Management Team striveS for service development and continuous improvement in service performance and the delivery of high-quality strategic aims and performance targets.
Who we are looking for…
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Management experience at a senior level in a large, complex, organisation and experience of leading teams of professional finance staff.
* Substantial knowledge and understanding of the Local Authority financial environment and technical accounting requirements.
* Awareness of financial operations, such as systems, policies, practices, procedures, legislation, and major sectoral issues.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
* Strong leadership abilities, with evidence of developing and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
* Proven ability to work as part of teams within the service, with other directorates on specific issues, and for initiatives across the Council.
* Successful track record in developing effective working relationships and a proven ability to network.
* Full CCAB accounting qualification.
