Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Miller Setter to join our client’s team in Walsall. The successful candidate will operate and set up Heidenheim‑controlled milling machines, ensuring the production of high‑quality, precision components. This is a daytime role, offering an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to a dynamic and innovative manufacturing environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Set up and operate CNC milling machines with Heidenheim controls, ensuring precise machining of components.
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to produce components to exact tolerances.
* Monitor machine performance, making adjustments to achieve optimal efficiency and quality.
* Conduct regular inspections of machined parts using measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM) to ensure compliance with specifications.
* Perform first-off inspections and in-process checks, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards.
* Ensure machines and workspace are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition in line with health and safety standards.
* Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot issues and optimize machining processes.
* Maintain accurate records of production, including tooling changes, adjustments, and inspection results.
* Assist in the training of junior operators, sharing best practices and encouraging continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a CNC Miller Setter, particularly with Heidenheim‑controlled milling machines.
* Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
* Solid understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, and fixturing.
* Experience with measuring and inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMM.
* Attention to detail, ensuring all components are produced to precise tolerances.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
* Familiarity with health and safety procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
