Job summary
As a Consultant in Haematology, Iron and Transfusion Medicine, youll take a leading role in improving transfusion practice and patient blood management across Oxford University Hospitals and NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT).
Main duties of the job
You'll provide expert clinical leadership in transfusion medicine, drive safe and appropriate blood use, and oversee the day to day delivery of the Iron Deficiency Management Service. Your work will influence national practice through audit, research, and participation in regional and national committees. You'll collaborate closely with clinical teams, transfusion practitioners, and laboratory colleagues to reduce unnecessary transfusion, strengthen governance, and support cutting edge digital decision support systems.
