Fastly's Technical Operations (TechOps) team is responsible for building & operating the infrastructure that powers the Fastly Edge Cloud Platform. We oversee an extensive global network that spans 6 continents with over 100 points of presence and 462 Tbps of connected capacity. Our platform serves a significant portion of the content delivered to internet consumers across the planet, with customers ranging from online media streaming services to e-commerce, open source projects, nonprofits, and more. What You'll Do:
1. Build, operate, and maintain the continually growing global network footprint of Fastly's Edge Cloud Platform.
2. Respond to significant traffic incidents and lead network incidents, resolving edge cases and failure scenarios with expertise in IP routing, particularly BGP.
3. Innovate new methods for monitoring network performance, focusing on the end-user experience, and proactively address potential issues.
4. Partner in developing and iterating tools and automation systems to improve network operations and construction.
5. Conduct performance analytics and collaborate with partner teams to maintain a performant global network.
6. Advocate for operational stability by identifying opportunities and partnering with engineering teams to shape roadmaps and software solutions.
7. Mentor team members on global routing complexities, especially in an anycast-heavy environment.
8. Demonstrate extensive experience with protocols like IP, BGP, Anycast, and DNS.
9. Possess proficiency with Tier 1 Internet providers, Internet exchanges, and cloud providers.
10. Analyze traffic patterns using flow-based tools.
11. Work with alerting, monitoring, and visibility tools such as Graphite/Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
12. Participate in code and design reviews; demonstrate scripting abilities in languages like Python.
13. Have experience with Linux/Unix systems.
14. Understand cloud hosting solutions such as GCP, AWS, and Azure.
15. Apply knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Ansible).
16. Create comprehensive documentation and share knowledge effectively.
17. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape technical roadmaps, focusing on automation and network optimization.
Work Hours & Location:
09:00 am - 06:00 pm. This is a remote role, preferably for candidates based in the UK near London.

Compensation & Benefits:
The estimated salary range is £100,000 to £120,000 plus bonus, with potential participation in equity and discretionary bonus programs. We offer a comprehensive benefits package starting from day one, designed to support your well-being and work-life balance.
