The Role: Technical Lead
Contract Length: 6 Months
Rate: up to £950
Job Grade: Grade 6 DD level

This role is key in the Tech and Security (T&S) directorate and will be providing technical oversight and CTO leadership to a priority IT Programme
You will:
* Act as the escalation point for IT related tech decisions in the IT Programme governance group to make key technical decisions for the programme
* Supervise the next phase of the IT Work:
* Alpha to identify the next generation engineering/technologist compute platform
* Change assessment and planning across all teams, to derive a credible and deliverable migration approach
* Development of future security services
* Coordinate and collaborate on a more ad-hoc basis with leadership and technical across GDS to help align plans, expectations and ensure relationships with the programme are maintained.
* Collaborate with the T&S team, helping to align work across the area and ensuring that the teams and build specifically aligns the work of our new Business Enablement and Engineering Access Operations teams align to the MoG IT programme
* Acting for the CTO, CISO, Head of Engineering Enablement or Head of Technical Architecture where necessary
* Be an effective collaborator and communicator
The successful candidate will have:
* A background in the technical world, you should have been a developer, architect or in another technical role in your past
* Understanding of enterprise IT, agile delivery and DevSecOps style working
* Experience in a senior technical leadership role, this should be providing oversight to a programme or team of teams (CTO, principal architect or similar)
* Knowledge of government IT, HR and technology management processes
* Experience in developing and driving the roadmap for a major technology programme
* A broad understanding of cyber security and how this influences technical choices for IT and engineering systems
* Clear experience in technical and IT enablement for a technology focussed organisation, supporting delivery of change
* Solid experience working with senior leadership teams and programme boards
