Position: Warehouse Team Leader Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme Division: Stores Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager Up to £15.29 per hour D.O.E We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK-based manufacturer with a state-of-the-art facility in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This role is ideal for a skilled and proactive warehouse professional who has experience supervising operational teams and is confident driving efficiency, safety, and accuracy across all warehouse functions. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities including goods receiving, picking, packing, dispatch, and stock replenishment Lead a team of warehouse operatives to meet departmental KPIs and performance targets Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and proper stock management procedures Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations and promote a safe, clean working environment Ensure accurate and timely completion of warehouse documentation and system updates Support communication and coordination with procurement, production, and logistics departments to resolve delivery or inventory issues Train and develop team members, including onboarding new staff and identifying upskilling opportunities Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts (with valid certification) Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and drive lean practices within warehouse operations Performance Indicators: Order picking and packing accuracy On-time dispatch rates Inventory accuracy and variance Number of safety incidents Labour productivity (e.g., orders/hour, lines/hour) Additional Responsibilities: Collaborate with internal departments to align priorities and optimise workflow Promote efficient use of labour, space, and handling equipment Drive a culture of continuous improvement and team engagement Identify and address training needs within the warehouse team Requirements: Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in a warehouse team lead position. Prior experience in a supervisory or team leadership role preferred Valid forklift licence (counterbalance, reach, or similar) Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Understanding of warehouse health and safety regulations Skills: Familiarity with lean warehousing principles (5S, Kaizen, etc.) Ability to monitor and report on KPIs related to warehouse performance Strong organisational and communication skills Problem-solving mindset and calm under pressure Attention to detail and a hands-on approach to team management Direct Reports: This role is responsible for leading a team of 6 warehouse operatives.
