We are seeking a Band 5 Dietitian to join our busy Community Nutrition & Dietetics Service in Barnsley, initially for 1 year from September 2025 (fixed term contract). We welcome applications from newly qualified Dietitians and experienced Band 5 Dietitians interested in community-based roles.
The role involves varied and engaging community dietetics work, including clinics, care homes, and housebound patients. The caseload covers nutrition support and general dietetics, with opportunities to gain experience in diabetes and enteral feeding (with support).

Essential skills include excellent teamworking, communication, organisation, and time management, along with a commitment to CPD. Applicants must have a driving license and access to a vehicle, as this is a community-based role. A contribution to training student dietitians is also expected.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Community Dietitian, you will:
1. Manage a community caseload requiring dietetic intervention across various settings such as care homes, clinics, and patients' homes.
2. Provide dietetic assessments and interventions for a range of conditions, including nutrition support and general dietetics.
3. Work collaboratively with dietitians and dietetic assistants.
4. Maintain a patient-centred approach aligned with Trust values.
5. Work flexibly to meet service needs.
6. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve patient-focused goals.
7. Collaborate with MDT members to develop individualized care plans.
8. Participate in staff development, clinical supervision, and training of dietetic students.
