Overview
Shift Leader position at Tesco with pay starting from £14.76 per hour, increasing to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional location-based payments may apply. It is our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; options to work fewer hours (minimum 12) are also available. Availability windows are provided; contracted hours are scheduled within these times with 3 weeks’ notice. We are flexible if your availability closely matches the advertised times.

As a Shift Leader you will oversee store operations from the shop floor, supporting a team to keep things running smoothly and to make the store experience better for customers, colleagues, and communities each day.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be present for customers, listening to their needs and helping them leave with what they came for
* Identify ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and providing feedback
* Guide and support colleagues in-store, ensuring a safe place to work and shop
* Maintain understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a strong example for the team

You will be responsible for
* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience for customers
* Supporting colleagues in delivering daily priorities and taking regular breaks
* Opening and closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring safety decisions are made appropriately
* Being the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Keeping the store clean, tidy, and well-presented
* Supporting managers to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events
* Contributing to a positive team atmosphere that is inclusive
* Providing excellent customer service by listening to customers and prioritising their needs
* Keeping the team informed of communications, changes, or updates
* Staying knowledgeable about store performance and seeking ways to improve and simplify operations
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to great service
* Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues providing great service

* Be a great role model, delivering thoughtful customer service to meet every customer’s needs

* Be comfortable taking the lead and overseeing the store in the absence of the Manager
