Our Fleet Safety Team will provide first line support to over 2500 professional and vocational drivers across the North, Midlands & South of the UK & Ireland. These vital roles will support the continued development of our LGV, LCV & car driver communities to improve driver safety, which in turn protects other road users and members of the public.
The roles will also focus on the ongoing development of our transportation safety culture, processes, procedures, and the future innovation and development of the vehicle fleet. This ensures Sunbelt remains at the forefront of transportation safety, including leading the development, rollout, and management of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme.
This role will cover the North and Scotland.
About The Role
Our Fleet Safety Team will provide first line support to over 2500 professional and vocational drivers across the North, Midlands & South of the UK & Ireland. These roles support the development of our driver communities to improve safety and protect the public.
The role also involves developing our safety culture, processes, and vehicle fleet innovations, including leading the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme.
Key Responsibilities:
* Promote a safety-first culture to minimize risks and reduce traffic incidents.
* Support Line Managers responsible for drivers within depots, businesses, or regions to ensure compliance.
* Lead the development and deployment of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme, including driver recognition initiatives.
* Utilize available technology to identify drivers needing coaching or retraining and assist Line Managers accordingly.
* Support accident investigations, follow-ups, and action plan finalizations.
* Lead on high-potential collisions and incidents.
* Build proactive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Encourage observation reporting, share lessons learned, and develop best practices.
* Assist the region in maintaining vehicle legal compliance.
* Perform periodic safety checks, vehicle inspections, and compliance record reviews.
* Monitor and report on driver and vehicle safety compliance.
* Contribute to the Engage for Life Strategy.

To succeed as a Fleet Safety Manager, you should have:
* Experience in transport/fleet safety or compliance.
* Knowledge of O licence requirements.
* A full driving licence and willingness to travel.
* Preferably, a background in equipment rental.
* Ability to work independently.
* Strong communication skills at all levels.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
* A methodical approach to problem-solving with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related systems.
