Buyer
Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Hours: Full time | Permanent
Salary: up to £42,000 + excellent benefits, 25 days holiday
Our client is looking for a Buyer to join their well-established team in Gloucester!
You will support the purchasing of goods and services (3rd party and intra-company), ensuring operational requirements of the business are met. The ideal candidate will have a strong Engineering background along with a proven track record in procurement.
Key Responsibilities of a Buyer
* Support the Senior Buyer on site and manage assigned categories.
* Identify requirements from Bills of Materials (BOM’s).
* Ensure timely negotiation and placement of purchase orders with the vendor base.
* Meeting or exceed targets such as Annual Savings, OTIF vendor performance, etc.
* Category management activities for optimal make/buy and on-shore and off-shore supply chain positioning.
* Ensure EFACS records (all relevant functional data) are accurate and maintained.
* Support the department within the wider operations team.
* Attend production meetings and contribute where appropriate.
* Liaise with key stakeholders such as Engineering, Planning, Quality, Finance for maximum efficiency.
* Timely NCR closure process with vendors.
Key Skills of a Buyer
* CIPs qualification or studying towards CIPS desirable.
* Engineering qualification preferably HNC or higher.
* Strong Engineering background is essential.
* Proven track record in procurement.
* Ability to read, analyse, and interpret drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, suppliers.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CRM databases.
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
