The Opportunity
Nigel Wright Group is working with an established, values-driven organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead the delivery of a high-quality maintenance service across a residential recovery setting.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring facilities are safe, compliant, and well-maintained, supporting a therapeutic environment for residents and staff. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both operational oversight and practical delivery.
The Role
- Lead and manage all planned and reactive maintenance across the site
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and statutory requirements
- Oversee contractors and external suppliers
- Manage maintenance budgets, procurement, and resource allocation
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance schedules
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments
- Ensure all buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained to a high standard
- Support audits (e.g. regulatory or care inspections) and maintain accurate records
- Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience in maintenance or facilities management, ideally in residential, healthcare, or supported housing environments
- Strong knowledge of health & safety compliance, including risk assessments and statutory checks
- Practical, hands-on maintenance skills (multi-trade preferred)
- Experience managing contractors and service providers
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work both strategically and operationally
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
Desirable:
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g. electrical, plumbing, building services)
- Experience within care, housing, or charity sectors
- Knowledge of compliance systems and audits
