The Opportunity

Nigel Wright Group is working with an established, values-driven organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead the delivery of a high-quality maintenance service across a residential recovery setting.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring facilities are safe, compliant, and well-maintained, supporting a therapeutic environment for residents and staff. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both operational oversight and practical delivery.

The Role

• Lead and manage all planned and reactive maintenance across the site
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and statutory requirements
• Oversee contractors and external suppliers
• Manage maintenance budgets, procurement, and resource allocation
• Implement and maintain preventative maintenance schedules
• Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments
• Ensure all buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained to a high standard
• Support audits (e.g. regulatory or care inspections) and maintain accurate records
• Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• Proven experience in maintenance or facilities management, ideally in residential, healthcare, or supported housing environments
• Strong knowledge of health & safety compliance, including risk assessments and statutory checks
• Practical, hands-on maintenance skills (multi-trade preferred)
• Experience managing contractors and service providers
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work both strategically and operationally
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

Desirable:

• Relevant technical qualification (e.g. electrical, plumbing, building services)
• Experience within care, housing, or charity sectors
• Knowledge of compliance systems and audits
