£40,000 – £55,000 per annum (depending on experience and title) Commercial estimator = £40000k and Commercial Manager - up to £55000k per annum
39 hours per week, Monday to Friday

An established and growing engineering company in Abingdon is seeking a skilled Commercial Estimating Engineer to join its highly motivated team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware engineer who can confidently interpret drawings, evaluate enquiries, and deliver accurate, competitive quotations within agreed timescales.
Main Purpose of the Role
* Evaluate customer enquiries for machined components and assemblies
* Estimate manufacturing costs and produce detailed quotations
* Liaise with customers on technical matters
* Take ownership of contracts and manage through to completion
* Conduct thorough contract reviews with a “right first time” approach
Key Responsibilities
* Produce optimum manufacturing methods and cost estimates from drawings or digital data
* Generate project plans and manage new business opportunities
* Submit clear and concise quotations for review
* Complete quick load processes for new orders, ensuring all specifications and materials are correct
* Negotiate raw material purchases and liaise with suppliers
* Monitor contract profitability and support continuous improvement initiatives
* Provide technical support including tooling, methods and project management
* Ensure high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Apprentice-trained engineer or similar mechanical discipline
* Strong mechanical engineering background
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings
* Experience within a sub-contract machining environment advantageous
* Good IT literacy and strong communication skills
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement desirable
* Proactive attitude with strong work ethics
