An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and innovative Speech and Language Therapist to join our team as part of the Moray Bairns’ Hoose Project. Bairns’ Hoose is a Scottish Government backed approach to providing coordinated childcentred and trauma informed support from all agencies who support children and young people (CYP) who have been harmed or who are witnesses to harm. The Bairns’ Hoose model brings together child protection, health recovery support/whole family support, and justice in one setting.
A key aim of the Bairns’ Hoose is to ‘help produce evidence of the best standards for legal proceedings in a way that reduces the need for children to appear in court, should the case be prosecuted’.
The post involves close collaborative working as part of the newly developed Bairns’ Hoose team and will involve:
• Assessing the Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) of CYP accessing Bairns’ Hoose support.
• Sharing findings and recommending supports to family and other professionals.
• Upskilling Communication Partners involved in supporting CYP with SLCN who are accessing Bairns Hoose and promoting an Inclusive Communication environment.
This post provides an exciting opportunity to be involved from the early stages in a new model of service delivery in Moray for CYP who have experienced or witnessed h arm. Collecting data to inform service development using a quality improvement approach will also be essential as the project gets underway and continues into the future.
This post would be embedded within our friendly and supportive community team working in the Moray area of Grampian. Our vision is: “Everyone in Moray is able to build and maintain quality relationships by being able to understand others and express themselves to the best of their ability.”
We are a small team based in a central location which enables regular
