Head of Food and Nutrition (Maternity Cover) - Independent School
Location: Essex (easily accessible through the Elizabeth Line). Start Date: January 2026 / April 2026. Contract: Maternity Cover (until at least April 2027), Full Time. Salary: Based on the school's generous pay scale.
We are currently seeking an outstanding Head of Food and Nutrition to join a leading independent through school in Essex from January or April 2026, to cover a maternity leave initially until April 2027.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Food and Nutrition department, overseeing curriculum delivery across Key Stage 3 to GCSE and Sixth Form.
* Inspire pupils across all key stages and maintain high standards of teaching and learning within the subject area.
* Support practical and theoretical study in a well-equipped, modern facilities that foster innovation, sustainability, and a strong understanding of nutrition and healthy living.
* Play a full role in the wider life of the school, including supporting pupils outside the classroom and contributing to the co-curricular programme.
Department context
Pupils study Food and Nutrition as a discrete subject at Key Stage 3, progressing to GCSE and Sixth Form qualifications. The department is equipped with modern facilities designed to support practical and theoretical study.
