Job Title: Higher Scientific Officer - Ruminant Livestock Research Scientist Location: Hillsborough Salary: £19.59 per hour Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:45am – 4:40pm) Duration: 12-months (with possibility of extension) About the Role: An established public sector research organisation is seeking a Ruminant Research Scientist (Higher Scientific Officer) to support the delivery of livestock production research projects. This post will provide maternity cover and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to applied scientific research within a multidisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering scientific tasks across a range of livestock production research projects, contributing to data generation, analysis and dissemination of scientific outputs. Essential Criteria: Applicants must meet one of the following qualification routes: Option 1 A PhD in agriculture, animal science or a relevant biological science related to animals* OR Option 2 A degree (or higher) in agriculture, animal science or a relevant biological science related to animals* AND a minimum of 2 years’ demonstrable experience working in a research capacity post-qualification In addition, applicants must demonstrate: Proven experience of conducting scientific studies involving animals. Experience of statistical analysis of scientific data. Demonstrable experience of presenting research findings to a range of audiences (e.g. farmers, academic or professional audiences). Evidence of at least one full peer-reviewed scientific paper either published or accepted for publication. Other Information: This role will involve a combination of office-based and outdoor activities, including manual handling of livestock and agricultural equipment. The post is offered on a full-time basis with possible overtime when required.
