Overview
Full-Time Religious Education Teacher (Maternity Cover) – Maidstone. Start Date: October 2025. Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Maternity Cover (End of the Academic Year). Salary: MPS (Dependent on Experience).
Supply Desk are recruiting a dedicated RE Teacher to join a high-achieving secondary school community, covering a maternity leave from October 2025 until July 2026. This role offers an opportunity to inspire and engage students in the study of world religions, ethics, and cultural diversity while contributing to a dynamic learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality RE lessons across key stages.
* Inspire students to explore and critically engage with a range of religious beliefs, ethical perspectives, and cultural traditions.
* Create a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
* Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and positive learning space for all students.
* Provide constructive feedback and communicate progress with students and families.
* Lead exam preparation and deliver focused revision sessions.
* Participate in extracurricular activities related to religious education.
* Stay informed of changes to the RE curriculum and best practices.
* Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, and a degree in Religious Education or a related subject.
* Previous experience teaching RE in a secondary school setting, with a passion for the subject.
* Strong knowledge of world religions, ethical perspectives, and cultural diversity.
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
* Ability to create engaging and thought-provoking lessons.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
* Commitment to safeguarding and child protection standards.
* Familiarity with the UK education system and current curriculum standards.
