We're looking for a talented health or social care professional to join our leadership team in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, as Service Manager. The role will provide a genuine opportunity to develop your management skills and make a difference. You will work closely with the Service Line Lead and management teams to ensure the effective coordination and operational delivery of community health & social care services in HPFT. Particular key responsibilities will be as follows:
Responsibilities
* Assist the Service Line Lead in delivering a service that takes account of the Trust's transformation agenda and implementation of care pathways, ensuring a cohesive, effective and seamless service for service users.
* Ensure the effective delivery of community-based care services using a whole systems approach to achieve required performance levels.
* Support the management of relationships with primary care GPs and third‑sector organisations as required by the Service Line Lead; be responsible for providing high‑quality care across a complex range of health and social services interfacing across HPFT and other providers.
* Accountable for the effective operational management of all care pathways, requiring liaison and coordination with secondary care clinicians, managers, local politicians, primary care and other independent contractors for community services.
* Manage within the established frameworks and processes of the Strategic Business Unit, monitoring capacity day‑to‑day, ensuring effective escalation arrangements to maintain safety, and responding to team capacity issues; develop and deliver team health promotion and prevention in collaboration with other agencies.
* Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements (e.g. CQC, HSE) and implement relevant assurance systems to demonstrate compliance.
Qualifications
* Significant management experience within the NHS.
* Experience of engaging service users/carers in service planning and improvement.
* Knowledge of national policy and governance standards.
* Knowledge of NHS and local government strategies, policies, and plans.
* Experience of planning and implementing service change.
* Experience of working with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to achieve service improvement.
* Evidence of achieving targets and objectives within a challenging environment.
* Ability to organise own workload and that of the team to meet objectives and operate effectively; ability to communicate verbally and in writing to inform and influence staff and stakeholders.
* Ability to lead effective and empowered teams.
* Ability to manage conflict and tension proactively and constructively.
* Ability to direct and delegate effectively.
* Ability to translate complex issues and problems into clear recommendations and plans.
* Ability to develop flexible and creative solutions to difficult problems and challenges.
* First degree or equivalent and professional qualification in a relevant area of health or social care.
* Evidence of continuous professional and management development, including short courses, structured self‑study or formal management courses.
* Appropriate UK professional registration.
