Job Summary
Our client, a large Aerospace and Defence supplier, is seeking a Materials & Process Laboratory Technician for a 6-month initial contract at their Stevenage site.

Important Notes
* Applicants must hold sole British nationality and be willing to obtain SC Clearance.
* Position is fully onsite in Stevenage with some ad-hoc work from home.
Department Overview
The Materials team supports all business areas with expertise in metallic, non-metallic, composite, and other materials, ensuring products meet technical, cost, and reliability requirements.
Responsibilities include providing technical guidance, consultancy, representation on standards committees, supporting REACH and RoHS compliance, failure investigations, hazard control, obsolescence solutions, technical assessments, and quality evaluations.
Responsibilities
* Assess a wide range of materials including metals, paints, adhesives, and composites.
* Familiarity with lab equipment; experience with XRF, FTIR, SEM, EDX is beneficial.
* Prepare reports, interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and utilize IT systems like Word, Excel, and Access.
* Support failure investigations, material selection, supply chain support, inspection reports, and material characterization.
* Assist with compliance data generation and assessment, such as REACH and RoHS.
Required Skills and Experience
* Manufacturing laboratory experience
* Assessment of materials to international standards, including DEF STANs
* Experience in supporting the selection, procurement, and manufacturing of engineering parts
* Knowledge of non-metallic material processing, including paints and adhesives
