Chief Cardiac Physiologist – Echocardiography
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) is recruiting for a Chief Cardiac Physiologist for Echocardiography to lead and develop the cardiac imaging service.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine and complex diagnostic echocardiography procedures autonomously.
* Be a competent practitioner in all echocardiography procedures including complex ACHD, 3D Echocardiography, pharmacological and exercise ischaemic stress echo, strain echocardiography, TOE, DSE, and transcatheter structural intervention.
* Maintain quality of services within echocardiography and monitor and improve performance.
* Supervise and train other cardiac physiologists.
* Participate on a roster basis as required.
* Develop further highly technical specialist and advanced practical skills in the complex echo service.
* Contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the department, ensuring smooth operation of a quality service.
Additional Responsibilities
* Triage and assess referred patients.
* Monitor appropriateness of referrals, obtain relevant patient information, interpret and report clinical findings, and ensure appropriate discharge or ongoing care.
* Encourage and support staff to obtain BSE accreditation.
* Provide teaching and support to department staff and medical staff learning technical cardiology.
* Actively encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach to cardiac care.
* Ensure full national accreditation is maintained and undertake further training as required for professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
* BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent).
* Full BSE accreditation in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography.
* Immunisation and vaccination report available from UK occupational health provider or GP.
* Experience in advanced cardiac imaging and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
