Salaried Partner - Construction
Stamford, Lincolnshire
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Construction Partner to join our growing Construction team. The role will have a primary focus on contentious construction and engineering matters, including complex dispute resolution, while also involving some noncontentious advisory and contractual work to support clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Working alongside our head of department and other team lawyers, you will play a key role in delivering strategic, high-quality advice to a diverse client base including employers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and trade federations. This opportunity is ideal for a senior lawyer seeking their first partner role who enjoys challenging disputes work while maintaining involvement in front‑end construction issues.
Hours of Work
09.00 – 17.15 hrs – Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities
* Act for employers, contractors, consultants and subcontractors in adjudications, arbitrations, mediations and litigation (including TCC proceedings).
* Advise clients on delays, defects, payment, variations, termination and professional negligence.
* Manage complex disputes with a strategic, commercially driven approach.
* Draft, review and negotiate pleadings, submissions, witness statements and settlement agreements.
* Provide risk management and dispute avoidance advice across live projects.
Non‑Contentious Construction Work
* Advise on and draft construction and engineering contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties and related documentation.
* Support clients on procurement strategy, risk allocation and contract administration.
* Collaborate with colleagues in Real Estate and Corporate teams on wider transactions.
Practice And Client Development
* Build and strengthen client relationships through responsive, solution‑driven advice.
* Work closely with the Head of Construction and other partners on joint mandates and client development initiatives.
* Contribute to marketing and thought leadership, including seminars, publications and networking events.
* Mentor and support junior members of the team on contentious and advisory matters.
Person Specification
Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 8+ years’ PQE (or equivalent) in disputes advice.
Excellent advocacy, negotiation and drafting skills.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of clients’ business objectives.
Proven ability to manage matters independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Desire to contribute to practice growth and client development initiatives.
Additional Requirements
* Law Degree or equivalent work based experience.
* Experience in construction law.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office, case management systems and high levels of computer literacy.
* Clear understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Regulations.
* Previous experience of SOS.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work with confidence, plan and organise effectively, manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
* Team‑oriented approach with a proactive and commercial mindset.
* Willing to be flexible to meet the needs of the business.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle during working hours.
