School Caretaker / Site Assistant
A reliable and proactive role supporting site management, facilities setup, customer service and maintenance operations during out-of-hours lettings in an education environment.
This role is known internally as a Lettings Caretaker.
Salary: £13.50 per Hour + Benefits
Location: Barkingside, Ilford, Essex

Job Overview
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School Caretaker / Site Assistant to support out-of-hours site operations and community lettings.
You will manage site access, prepare facilities and maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for all users, acting as a key on-site presence, delivering excellent customer service and resolving issues as they arise.
The School Caretaker / Site Assistant will oversee bookings, handle customer queries and maintain equipment, ensuring all areas meet required standards and health and safety regulations.
Duties
* Open and secure premises: ensure facilities are safe, accessible and ready for use before and after lettings.
* Prepare facilities: set up rooms, equipment and spaces to meet booking requirements.
* Oversee lettings: provide on-site support, customer service and issue resolution.
* Maintain site standards: ensure cleanliness, safety and presentation across all areas.
* Monitor facilities: check condition during and after use, reporting and addressing concerns.
* Liaise with staff and contractors: coordinate with cleaning teams and service providers.
* Ensure compliance: follow health, safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.
* Support site management: take responsibility for smooth operations during allocated shifts.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience in premises maintenance, facilities or site support roles.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external stakeholders.
* Competent using Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
* Understanding of health, safety and security procedures within a school or similar environment.
* Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.
* Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and holidays.
* Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service and resolve issues calmly.
