Job Summary
Hywel Dda University Health Board are seeking a dynamic Consultant Radiologist who is experienced in general radiology with a special interest in Head and Neck radiology and possesses a flexible approach to work. The Health Board offers an excellent opportunity to join a progressive team of consultants and contribute to the ongoing development of radiological services within the Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Main Duties
This appointment is Health Board wide and the successful candidate would join radiology colleagues to provide general, head and neck based CT, MRI, ultrasound and fluoroscopy services to support the Health Board. The candidate will contribute to the wider workload of the department subject to job plan discussions, including general radiology, second on call rotas, teaching of radiology trainees, reporting Radiographers, undergraduate students, and other hospital staff. Flexible working arrangements will be considered and discussed.
A proportion of the out of hours (OOH) on‑call is currently outsourced and completed remotely by an online Teleradiology provider. The directorate is currently transforming this service, bringing a proportion in‑house. The successful candidate will assist the Health Board in providing and promoting a flexible approach by contributing to cross‑site reporting and emergency cover for our four main hospital sites where necessary, and participating in the second‑on‑call rota.

Qualifications – Essential
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date
* Portfolio Pathway (CESR) or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
* FRCR or equivalent qualification
Qualifications – Desirable
* Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc, MRCP
Clinical Experience – Essential
* Expertise, competence and experience in general radiology and knowledge of UK hospital systems
* Knowledge and participation in CPD
* Demonstrated knowledge, experience and competence in head and neck radiology with associated interventional procedures and MDT participation
* Ability to undertake ultrasound examinations and interpret head and neck pathologies including cancers
* Ability to interpret CT and MRI imaging in head and neck and general areas
Clinical Experience – Desirable
* Experience of NHS
* Additional clinical qualification(s)
* Ability to undertake basic fine‑needle and core biopsies around the neck
* Wider experience, research and training in providing subspecialty service
