Theatre Practitioner
We are seeking an experienced Theatre Practitioner, either a Registered Nurse with anaesthetic qualifications or an Operating Department Practitioner, to join the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC). The role will support care for children and young people across the region and requires working weekend, night and on‑call shifts.
Main duties of the job
* Provide theatre support for a wide range of specialities including cardiac, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, CEPOD and others.
* Work in a team of dedicated nurses and clinicians to deliver high quality care.
* Ensure safe management of anaesthesia and medicines, calculations and communication with patients, carers and MDT.
* Take lead to respond appropriately to deteriorating patients.
* Work with minimal supervision and act professionally at all times.
* Be a self‑motivated team player, recognising own limits.
Person Specification
* Registered with the NMC or HCPC and possess a current paediatric registration.
* Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice in a hospital environment.
* Interest and experience in the paediatric clinical area.
* Competence in clinical skills relevant to the area.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to perform calculations for safe administration of medicines and fluids.
* Clinical decision‑making ability and the capacity to take the lead in response to deteriorating patients.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Professional behaviour, self‑motivation and teamwork.
* Recognition of personal limits.
