The Role
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to manage our Digital Transformation Development Team, responsible for driving the design, development, and delivery of innovative digital solutions. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and the ability to translate business needs into modern, scalable technology solutions.
As the development lead, you will oversee a cross-functional team of web developers, backend engineers, Dynamics 365 specialists, Power Platform experts, QA testers, and data analysts. You will be accountable for inputting into the technical direction, aligning with organisational strategy, and ensuring delivery of secure, high-quality developments that enables our digital transformation journey.
You will combine strategic planning—shaping roadmaps, adopting MACH-aligned architectures, and embedding best practices in security, data, and agile delivery—with practical involvement, supporting sprints, reviewing code, refining processes, and mentoring your team.
This role requires a collaborative leader who can work closely with business stakeholders, product management, and external partners, ensuring technical solutions not only meet immediate requirements but also position the organisation for long-term digital success.
Accountabilities and Deliverables:
Agile Development & Sprint Management
* Lead and manage the Agile development process, ensuring smooth execution of sprints, releases, and iterations.
* Work closely with Product Owners and PMO to define sprint goals, backlog prioritisation, and development timelines.
* Monitor sprint velocity, team productivity, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
* Foster a collaborative Agile culture, encouraging team participation in stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) & Secure Development
* Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering via PMO to deployment and maintenance.
* Implement secure coding practices following OWASP Top 10 guidelines, ensuring that security is embedded in the development process.
* Ensure D365, backend, and web development staff follow best practices in authentication, authorisation, data encryption, and API security.
* Conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and code reviews to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
* Promote a culture of security awareness within the development team, ensuring all engineers receive training on secure development practices.
Testing & Quality Assurance
* Define and enforce QA testing strategies, ensuring all software is thoroughly tested before deployment.
* Implement automated testing frameworks, including unit testing, integration testing, and security testing.
* Oversee UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and Performance Testing to ensure a seamless user experience.
Technical Leadership Solutions
* Act as the technical leader for all online solutions, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Web Platforms (MACH design principle), and SharePoint.
* Lead the development and execution of strategies for websites, digital applications, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and SharePoint sites in alignment with Digital Transformation Strategy.
Data Strategy & Management
* Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy, ensuring data is structured, accessible, and aligned with business objectives.
* Ensure data governance policies are in place for data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR and ISO 27001.
* Work closely with PSP Management Team to improve data architecture, pipelines, and storage solutions.
* Oversee data integration across platforms, including D365, web applications, and backend systems, ensuring a unified data ecosystem.
* Champion the use of data-driven decision-making, helping the organisation leverage data insights for business intelligence and operational improvements.
* Implement data security best practices, including data masking, encryption, and anonymisation, to protect sensitive information.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
* Work closely with Product Management, PMO, and Business Leaders to align technical solutions with business needs.
* Communicate technical roadmaps, development progress, and challenges to senior leadership.
* Ensure seamless integration between D365, backend systems, and web applications.
* Collaborate with external vendors and development partners to enhance software capabilities.
Technical Strategy & Continuous Improvement
* Stay updated on emerging technologies, recommending tools and frameworks that enhance development efficiency and security.
* Drive process improvements, adopting new methodologies and tools to optimise development workflows.
* Oversee security, compliance, and data protection standards in software development, ensuring compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, and other regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & People Management
* Manage a cross-functional development team, including web developers, backend developers, D365 specialists, Power Platform specialists, Data analysts and QA Testers.
* Provide mentorship and technical guidance, fostering professional growth within the team.
* Conduct performance evaluations, set development goals, and create individual career progression plans.
* Lead hiring efforts to expand and strengthen the development team as needed.
From Our Line Manager
* About You
You will be a dedicated Development Manager who keeps up to date on all the latest technologies, you will be comfortable working full time in a commercial development environment having worked to tight deadlines in previous positions, a proven problem solver who can add real value to your digital transformation team.
* Proven experience as a Software Development Manager, Engineering Lead, or similar leadership role.
* Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), SharePoint, and web-based platforms.
* Hands-on experience in agile software development within an outsourced development partner model.
* Strong expertise in Agile development, Scrum methodologies, and sprint planning.
* Experience managing teams working with web technologies (React, Angular, Blazer), backend frameworks, .NET Core), and D365 development (x++, JavaScript).
* Deep understanding of secure development principles, OWASP Top 10, and DevSecOps methodologies.
* Hands-on experience in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-based architectures (Azure).
* Strong knowledge of API development, microservices, headless and database management (SQL, NoSQL).
* Expertise in data strategy, data governance, and enterprise data management.
* Experience in vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, and security audits.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, engage with stakeholders, and drive decision-making at a senior level.
* Excellent budget management and resource planning skills.
