Stover Country Park is one of two Green Flag Award winning Country Parks managed by Devon County Council and has 114 acres of woodland, heathland, lake and marsh. With the Park designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserve, it is a significant wildlife site and is particularly important for dragonflies. The woodland, lake and lowland heaths provide habitats for a range of resident and visiting wildlife. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the freedom of the Park and a range of activities are organised including guided walks, children's activities, and conservation tasks.
A Ranger is required to assist with the management and operation of the centre, practical maintenance and management of the Park, supervision of volunteers, to contribute to the events programme and to lead visiting local schools and other groups. With experience gained in countryside management/conservation, you should also possess knowledge of environmental issues. Good practical skills will be needed to assist with the routine and cyclic maintenance of the Park and two other nearby County Council owned sites. Excellent communication skills are also required as well as a flexible approach to working hours (with some weekend and bank holiday working required).
