About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will take the technical lead on projects that design and deploy bespoke algorithms to tackle complex real-world problems in the defence and national security sector. You'll define data science approaches, architect solutions end-to-end, and ensure excellence at every stage of delivery.
You'll also mentor and develop talented data scientists, supporting their growth through direct coaching and stretch opportunities.
What You'll Do Lead the design, development, and deployment of tailored AI solutions for clients in defence and national security.
Shape project scope and feasibility in collaboration with commercial and technical stakeholders.
Guide best practice in software architecture, data science methods, and project execution.
Mentor data scientists both formally and through on-project coaching.
Contribute to the company's reputation as a practical AI leader through teaching, conference speaking, open-source contributions, or client training delivery.
Collaborate with software engineers and product teams to deploy solutions rapidly and securely using advanced in-house platforms.
What We're Looking For Senior-level experience in data science or a quantitative academic field.
Strong programming skills, with the ability to quickly become fluent in Python.
Deep knowledge of core data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn) and at least one deep learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar).
High mathematical and statistical competence, with the ability to design new algorithms when needed.
Experience leading teams to deliver innovative technical work on time, including project planning and feasibility assessment.
Excellent communication skills with proven ability to influence and present to senior stakeholders.
A collaborative, growth-focused leadership mindset, with enthusiasm for mentoring others.
