An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician’s to join our excellent Pharmacy Team on the Hammersmith hospital site, which is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
You will be part of the busy Pharmacy Dispensary and Distribution Team, providing a high quality, patient focused dispensing and stock management service to the wards and clinics on the Hammersmith site.
You will need good computer skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and so excellent communication skills are essential. You must have a NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and have mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC.

Main duties of the job
1. To provide a high quality, patient focused dispensing service to the wards and departments of the Trust, associated hospitals and the primary care sector.
2. To ensure the timely supply of inpatient, discharge and clinic medication from the inpatient dispensary.
3. To monitor stock levels and maintain good stock management, including investigating and rectifying stock discrepancies.
4. To ensure that all staff working in the dispensary are appropriately trained.
5. To ensure all staff have an understanding of the stores and distribution services to enable them to provide a weekend and out of hour’s service.
6. To act as a systems manager for CMM, the automated dispensing robot, the controlled drugs Omnicell cabinet, Emergency Drug Room Omnicell cabinet, Emergency Department Omnicell cabinet (CXH & SMH only), Pharmacy prescription Tracker & TSCAN remote temperature monitoring systems.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. Level 3 in Pharmacy
8. Registered Pharmacy technician with the GPhC
9. Accredited Checking Technician (or be willing to work towards completion within 18 months of recruitment)
10. Mandatory professional CPD as defined by GPhC
Desirable criteria
11. NVQ Assessor (or equivalent qualification)
Experience
Essential criteria
12. An understanding of all aspects and services provided by a UK hospital pharmacy
13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
14. Team leader/management experience
15. Experience working in Hospital Pharmacy setting
Desirable criteria
16. Ward stock top up experience
17. Training/inducting new members of staff in operational processes
18. Collecting data for auditing purposes
Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
19. Understanding of the roles and practice of pharmacy staff
20. Analytical ability for problem solving
21. To adapt, support and implement changes to operations
22. Demonstrates awareness of and commitment to quality customer care
Desirable criteria
23. Experience in using CMM (previously JAC) pharmacy computer system
24. Knowledge of automated dispensing systems (Omnicell Robot and CD cupboard)
25. Experience dispensing and supplying oral chemotherapy medications using the ChemoCare computer system
