We are the only Scottish university with EcoCampus Platinum accreditation and ranked 1st in Scotland in the People and Planet University League Table.

Offering a wide range of professionally accredited courses and partnerships with over 300 industry partners, we are the top Scottish modern university for graduates in skilled employment, with 82% of our students in employment or further study within fifteen months of graduating (HESA 2024). We are Scotland's leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships and support over 22,000 students from nearly 120 countries through transnational partnerships. We are dedicated to widening participation and helping individuals from diverse backgrounds access university.

Guided by our values—integrity, responsibility, creativity, and confidence—we aim to transform lives and communities.

The Governance & Legal Services Team provides efficient, professional services to the University Court and Senate, supporting students in conduct or complaints situations.

Reporting to the Director and Head of Governance & Legal Services, successful candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proactively supporting the achievement of the University's Strategy 2030 goals through their work with the Court, Senate, and department, ensuring effective governance and compliance. The two roles are slightly different; further details are in the role profiles below.

You will excel in a busy, demanding environment, capable of multi-tasking and prioritising effectively, working closely with university governors, the executive team, and colleagues to ensure proper governance and compliance.

Demonstrable administrative and organisational skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, are essential, ideally gained within a Higher Education context. The ability to meet deadlines independently within a team, and experience supporting committees, are highly valued. You should be able to handle confidential and sensitive issues appropriately.

For further details or an informal discussion, please contact Paul Brown, Director of Governance & Legal Services at paul.brown@gcu.ac.uk or Debbie Donnet, Head of Governance and Legal Services at deborah.donnet@gcu.ac.uk.

As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates demonstrating the GCU Values.

Glasgow Caledonian University is dedicated to a fair, transparent, and bias-free recruitment process to attract and retain a high-performing workforce that contributes to our success. We hold the Athena Swan Silver award, recognizing our achievements in promoting gender equality, and are a Disability Confident 'Committed' employer, making reasonable adjustments for disabled applicants. We also hold the Carer Positive 'Engaged' employer award and are signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant.

The university offers benefits including professional development opportunities, family-friendly policies, a cycle-to-work scheme, and onsite childcare facilities.

Please note that appointments will typically be made at the first point of the salary scale unless otherwise specified.
