This post holder will be expected to work as a member of the Otology multidisciplinary team. This will involve supporting with both outpatient care and inpatient surgical treatment services. The post is based across St Mary’s and Charing Cross Hospitals and will be for a 12-month fixed period commencing October 2025.
The Trust Registrar post offers a well-balanced exposure to all aspects of Otology ENT Surgery. Input into the academic activity of the department is encouraged. There will also be an important service provision component with the post holder supporting with both operating lists and outpatient clinics, as well as the middle tier out of hours on-call rota (approximate on-call frequency for ENT-in-general, 1:7) and the Registrar of the Week rota, providing site cover and emergency support from 9am-5pm.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join the registrar team delivering specialist ENT care
Key Areas of Responsibility:
·Provide high quality care to patients in Otology
·The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration.
·To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
·To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities.
·To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
·Research, teaching and training
·Where possible to collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust’s translational research portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of research governance.

This post includes an on call commitment for the Imperial sites (Charing Cross, St Mary’s and Hammersmith) as well as Chelsea and Westminster trust and the Royal Brompton. The middle tier out of hours on-call rota (approximate on-call frequency for ENT-in-general, 1:7) and Registrar of the week 1 in 14th, the Registrar of the Week rota, providing site cover and emergency support from 9am-5pm.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. On GMC registered/ licensed Medical Practitioner
2. FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent On GMC’s specialist
3. Registrar or a Specialist Registrar who is within 6 months of being admitted to the GMC’s specialist register
Desirable criteria
4. MSc
Knowledge/skills Clinical expertise in Specialty/sub specialty
Essential criteria
5. Subspecialist knowledge and training in otology
6. IT Skills and computer literacy

7. Understanding of principles of clinical audit
Academic achievements including research/publications

8. Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at SCF level at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
