As a Configuration Management Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the configuration management discipline across our Marine Sector Engineering teams. You'll act as a subject matter expert, developing capability, providing governance and assurance, and ensuring that every component-from nuts and bolts to major systems-can be traced, understood, and effectively supported throughout the vessel's lifecycle. It's a role that directly contributes to operational readiness and engineering excellence, while offering exceptional scope for professional development and long-term career growth within a world-class engineering organisation. Day-to-day, you'll have the following responsibilities:
* Provide subject matter expertise and mentoring on configuration management across engineering teams.
* Deliver governance and assurance activities to ensure configuration integrity across key projects.
* Liaise with design, engineering, logistics and other stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality.
* Maintain and develop configuration management capability, ensuring processes and tools are consistent and fit for purpose.
* Support design reviews and the creation of accurate product configuration models and maintenance documentation.
This position is full-time at 35 hours per week and can be based at Devonport, Bristol or Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Configuration Management Lead:
* Extensive experience within engineering environments across the full product lifecycle.
* Strong expertise in configuration assessment and management for complex engineered products.
* Knowledge of ISO 10007 and relevant regulatory and legislative frameworks.
* Skilled in developing detailed, fit-for-purpose Configuration Management Plans.
* Strong people leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders., Degree qualified in an engineering discipline, or extensive relevant experience.
* Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IMechE, RINA, IET, Institute of Configuration Management) and Chartered status, or the ability to achieve it.
* Hold or be willing to achieve CM2 Certification.
Security Clearance The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
