Senior International Trade Development Manager – Red Meat Sector
We are currently recruiting for a Senior International Trade Development Manager (red meat sector). This hybrid role requires international travel, primarily to Asia and Africa, along with home and office working, depending on business needs.
Managing the implementation and delivery of our red meat export strategy, this role has responsibility to maximise export opportunities for UK products across the Beef, Lamb and Pork sectors in international markets and the UK supply chain. We are looking for a proactive and keen networker with extensive knowledge of agriculture or food sectors, with specific experience in red meat in the UK and internationally. The role will focus on the ASEAN region but will also support international activity elsewhere so flexibility to travel extensively is essential.

Responsibilities
* Work with the Head of International Trade Development to lead on the implementation, delivery and evaluation of the red meat export strategy to support levy payers.
* Act as technical lead for international activity including trade shows, outward and inward missions.
* Manage key regional market activity, maintaining an understanding of target markets and wider emerging opportunities.
* Work closely with the wider International Trade Development team, levy payers and government departments in the UK and overseas to support delivery of the strategy.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with overseas contacts in existing and developing markets with a focus on first‑rate customer service.
* Monitor performance ensuring that targets/KPIs are achieved, evaluating the effectiveness of activities.
* Support the selection and management of external agencies/suppliers, ensuring all activity is in line with legislative requirements.
* Ensure that outputs conform to a range of legal issues and AHDB branding.
* Liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including media and sector opinion formers and maintain contact with the industry through participation in meetings, events and open days.
* Represent AHDB in public and in the media.
* Maximise external and cross‑divisional co‑funding opportunities.
* Provide advice to agri‑food exporters and develop their commercial and marketing capability.
Essential Criteria
* Extensive knowledge of agriculture or food sectors, with developed knowledge of UK red meat exporters (beef, pork and lamb).
* Relevant international export experience, ideally having managed a remote team although not essential.
* Excellent project management skills with experience in managing budgets.
* Proven written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for networking.
* Able to work under own initiative while still possessing collaborative skills.
* Fluency in one or more languages an advantage.
* Ability to travel extensively overseas with periods away from home.
