Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 2 Challenging Behaviour) Location: Wakefield Contract Type: Full time About the Role We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a childs educational journey by providing tailored support both academically and emotionally. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement personalised strategies that promote engagement, positive behaviour, and progress.
Key Responsibilities Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with special educational needs and behavioural challenges Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans Support the pupils emotional regulation and social development Adapt learning activities to meet the pupils individual needs Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured environment Monitor and record progress, reporting to staff and parents as required Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies The Ideal Candidate Will: Have experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with challenging behaviour Be calm, patient, and resilient under pressure Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills Be proactive, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection Be committed to inclusion and supporting every child to succeed Desirable (but not essential): Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN Experience in primary school settings, particularly Key Stage 1 Training in behaviour management approaches (e.g. Team Teach, de-escalation techniques) We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
