About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our team at Darwin Escapes’ beautiful Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa in Somerset.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality food and excellent guest experiences. Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will support the day-to-day running of the kitchen while developing your culinary skills within a supportive and professional team.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone looking to build their career within hospitality and gain valuable experience in a busy resort kitchen.
This is a permanent, part-time position working 25 hours per week on variable days, including weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and assist in delivering high-quality dishes in line with company standards
• Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards at all times
• Assist with food preparation, stock rotation and kitchen organisation
• Check deliveries and ensure quality and accuracy where required
• Help maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen environment
• Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining high standards
• Support the wider kitchen team where required
• Ensure excellent presentation and consistency across all dishes
What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience within a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
• A passion for food and willingness to learn new skills
• Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Strong team player with good communication skills
• Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays

Additional Information
This is a permanent part-time role working 25 hours per week and will require flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays in line with business needs.
This role is based within a busy kitchen environment and will involve standing for extended periods. The role may also involve lifting or moving kitchen equipment and supplies where required.
