Graduate Planner Assistant Planner

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading renewable energy provider in its search for a Graduate Town Planner.
Our client is at the forefront of renewable gas infrastructure, currently delivering a major anaerobic digestion (AD) project due for completion in 2025. Once operational, the facility will produce enough green gas to supply thousands of local homes, playing a key role in Scotland’s transition toward a low‑carbon future.
This project is jointly backed by a specialist renewable energy developer and a highly respected partner with over 14 years of experience, providing a fully funded solution from feasibility and planning through to capital investment.
The Role
As a Graduate Town Planner, you will support the planning and development process for a nationally significant renewable energy scheme. You will work closely with experienced planners, project managers and technical consultants, gaining hands‑on exposure to all stages of the planning lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation, coordination and submission of planning applications
* Support engagement with local authorities, statutory consultees, and community stakeholders
* Conduct planning policy research and help prepare planning statements and reports
* Monitor project progress and help ensure compliance with planning conditions
* Collaborate with environmental, engineering and legal teams to support project delivery
* Contribute to long‑term strategic planning across the wider renewable energy portfolio
Requirements
* Degree in Town Planning or related discipline (RTPI accreditation desirable)
* Strong research, writing and analytical skills
* Interest in renewable energy, infrastructure and sustainable development
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities
* Keen to progress toward RTPI chartership
