Overview
Laser Welder
Our client, a growing manufacturing company based in Norwich, are currently seeking a Laser Welder to join their team. This is a full time, permanent position.
Hours: Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30; Friday: 08:00 - 14:30.
Responsibilities
* Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal parts, equipment, and products, using knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials, machining, layout techniques, hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
* Read and interpret drawings, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal products.
* Select gauge and type of sheet metal or box sections as per drawing.
* Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, applying knowledge of shop mathematics or templates and jigs to develop and build or form products as per work drawing.
* Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as break press, band saw, deburr machines, and equipment including welding kit and laser machine for cutting of sheet metals.
* Shape metal material using hand tools and/or fly press machinery.
* Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools.
* Use welding equipment or other methods to bond or assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
* Install assemblies in supportive framework according to drawings, using hand tools, power tools, and lifting devices.
KPIs & Performance
Observe daily targets and meet output requirements; produce product to drawing using materials and machinery to achieve best value.
Quality, Health and Safety
* Work within ISO 9001 standards and maintain quality standards.
* Observe quality control points and health & safety requirements; inform the team leader of any issues or non-conformities.
* Ensure adequate training to perform duties to meet health & safety and quality standards.
* Wear all required PPE.
* Ensure sourced materials are to specification and fit for purpose before use.
* Raise concerns with documentation or drawings to the team leader.
Policies & Procedures
Maintain compliance with all established policies and procedures.
Team Working & Continuous Improvement
* Attend lean manufacturing workshops/training; work within the company vision to improve efficiencies.
* Contribute to team effort by achieving related results as needed.
* Inspect assemblies using measuring instruments/tools such as callipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges, and micrometres as required.
* Repair and maintain sheet metal products.
* May operate computer-controlled programs or equipment to produce product or components.
